The Renovation of the trunk process:

  1. Removing old coats.
    - thermal, chemical or mechanical removing (depending on the kind of the cover)
  2. Impregnation and conservation of the wood.
    - usage of special chemical repellents destroying wood pests and fungus
  3. Pre-gringing and filling of the surface.
    - grinding with sand papers of medium grit,
    - dents and cracks filling
    - wood repairing (bigger defects were filled with old wood)
  4. Replacing of the bottom destroyed by wood pests
    the new bottom (preserving the measure) was made of old wood
  5. Gluing of the construction and elements
    - hand gluing using clamps
    - fixing of the bottom
  6. Multiple grinding with sand papers of different grits
    - grinding (with hands and tools)
    - dents filling (wood filler and wax)
  7. Clearing and the reconstruction of the fittings
    - hand clearing using steel wool and special chemicals
    - reconstruction of the handle signboard and the middle steel strap
  8. Surface final finishing for colouring
    - hand grinding using steel wool
  9. Wood colouring
    - colouring the trunk using stain (antique hazel)
  10. Finishing of the interior using colourless oil wax
    hand spread with a dabber cracks and dents filling of the interior using wood filler
  11. Finishing of the outer surface with wax
    - hand spread (five coatings) with a dabber
  12. Conservation of the lock and making a new key
  13. Fittings colouring (antique black)
  14. Polishing of the waxed surface of the trunk
